The Navman Wireless system communicates the vehicles location back to a web based servers allowing users to view and track the vehicle locations in real time.

The Global Position System consists of a large number of satellites orbiting the earth.
Each satellite is transmitting a coded stream of data for receipt by GPS units.
With most GPS system generally up to 10 satellites are tracked at a time

From the data received from each satellite, the location of the receiver is calculated by a complex algorithm. Based on continuous measurements, the receiver can also calculate relative data such as the direction the unit is traveling in and also speed.

The Navman Wireless system utilises the GPS system to provide an update on the vehicle location and speed.
This information is then transferred to the Navman Wireless server database via the mobile telephone network. In Australia this is the Telstra network.
